Naegleria fowleri is a microscopic protozoan that can cause a rare but devastating brain infection known as primary amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM). This microbe thrives in warm, freshwater environments such as lakes, rivers, and hot springs. Infection occurs when contaminated water enters the
